Beautiful Lives: Laura Mercier

Art School Confidential
The youngest of three daughters, Michele Mercier, as Laura was originally named, always had an eye for maquillage. She loved to draw and paint, and at 16, she headed for L'Ecole Supérieure d'Arts Appliqués Duperré in Paris. "I felt lost at school," she recalls. "I knew I couldn't earn a living as an artist. I wasn't religious, but I was trying to figure out the meaning of life."
