Beautiful Lives: Laura Mercier

About Face
Laura bounced back when she crossed paths with Janet Gurwitch. The Neiman Marcus executive vice president of merchandising turned business mogul helped lay the groundwork for Laura Mercier the brand, which launched in 1996 on a platform of creating "the flawless face." A quick favorite among the style set, the line came to feature a number of transformative products, including the plastic surgeon-inspired Secret Camouflage. "[It's] the trickiest product for women to understand," Mercier says of concealer. "Different types of imperfections require different shades and consistency. Yellow, for example, cancels out red and should be used on blemishes; orange cancels out blue and should be used to camouflage blue tones."
