The Beautiful Life of Tom Pecheux

Fashion Family
After just six months of school, Pecheux started to build up his book with small shoots. "I had no network in fashion. No one opened the door for me. I had to open it for myself," he says of his early days in the biz. "When I was 27, I thought, if I can't make it big by my thirties, I'm going to give up." A few years later, he met Carine Roitfeld and Mario Testino. The three emerging talents were hired to work on a German Marie Claire shoot starring Stella Tennant, with Testino behind the lens, Roitfeld on styling duty, and Pecheux in charge of the makeup. "It was a disaster!" But they were quick studies. The trifecta was responsible for much of Tom Ford's iconic ad imagery during his tenure at Gucci, among other joint ventures.
