After a breakout, my skin retains the red pigmentation of the acne scar for about three months. Is there anything I can do to make it heal faster?
This is called post-inflammatory pigmentation and it results from the inflammation. Using a hydroquinone lightener with AHA, antioxidants, and hydrators (like Murad Post-Acne Spot Lightening Gel) and sunscreen will help to lighten the spot.
