The Stock List

lips that’ll send tongues wagging

August 25, 2008  1:01 pm

If you happened to be walking down Fifth Avenue last night, you may’ve noticed more than a few faces pressed against the window at Henri Bendel, not to mention a slew of flashbulbs, screaming young girls, and equally excited grown men spilling onto the street. It was the kind of frenzy that only a collaboration between YSL Beauté and Gossip Girl could incite, bringing beauty fiends and the CW show’s legion of fans together for one promotional evening in celebration of the French luxury brand’s new Rouge Volupté lip color—and of course the private school drama’s much anticipated season premiere on September 1st. In attendance for the celebration were GG’s Leighton Meester, Taylor Momsen, and Jessica Szhor, not to mention Anna Sui, who was presumably on hand to view her clothes in the store’s new Gossip Girl-inspired windows conceptualized by the show’s costume designer Eric Daman. Or maybe it was in the hopes of seeing Blake Lively, who was a no-show, sadly. A few YSL training executives were also roaming the floor, expounding on the company’s new collection of highly pigmented “cult colors” that actually possess the dual-acting quality of a lipstick and a gloss, touting a hyaluronic acid microsphere formulation that smooths and plumps lips—while providing the kind of long-lasting shine conducive to the laborious hours of scheming and backstabbing that are sure to dominate the show’s second season.
