Lancome Rouge/Noir lips
Once reserved for the helplessly melancholy (and well-adjusted teenagers who frequent Hot Topic), fall’s black-lipstick trend is now acceptable for even half-hearted Morrissey fans. If you’re finding yourself both intrigued and unsettled by the opaque color that’s been making appearances in a few recent newsstand offerings, Lancôme’s new Color Fever Gloss in Piha Black is likely to be your best road-testing bet, as certain things don’t always translate from the runway to real life. (The fine line between glamour and goth is often best tread by professionals.) A low-pigment black gloss, it is surprisingly chic—when applied alone and over other shades. The company’s new artistic director for makeup, Aaron De Mey, layers it over Color Fever Lipstick in Piha Red. Only 500 will be available for purchase come November, but the waiting list is now open at the Bloomingdale’s 59th Street location: Call (212) 705-2886.
