In addition to the usual fare backstage at Anna Sui last night—models, mayhem, and mini-burgers, if craft services is really on its game—a “beauty bar” was set up to display the designer’s makeup range. While you may be familiar with a few choice items from Sui’s cosmetics line—bright shadows and blushes housed in pretty deep purple and black compacts—the products are hard to come by, albeit hot commodities. (Despite being sold all over Canada, distributor/licensing agreement issues have made them scarce south of the border). Thank goodness for online shopping, then. In celebration of the designer’s tenth year in the beauty biz, a whole assortment of new, repackaged, and reformulated items will be available for purchase this fall, including a nail polish and nail art collection, with new colors and bottles of stickers, glitter, and gemstones for your accessorizing pleasure. There’s also a special miniature “boudoir” replica of the makeup counter at Sui’s Soho boutique, with three drawers filled with eye, cheek, and lip color best-sellers.
