Which products should never be combined—for instance, is it bad if I’m using both salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide at once? Should you use one in the morning and one at night?
If something has an active ingredient, you need to make sure you’re not combining it with another product with an active ingredient because that’s just a setup for irritating your skin. I would separate the use of all active treatment products in time if possible, but if you have to use two things at once, wait a half hour in between. In general, though, I try not to prescribe things that way because it’s impractical and generally better to use one in the morning and one at night.
