This graphic designer blames a post-private-school rebellion for her near-constant color streaks. “I’ve had them since I was 15,” she says, adding that she always tries to “dress them up” a bit to really celebrate her no-dress-code freedom (when we spotted her she was in the throes of a 1940s-victory-rolls-with-floral-adornments phase). As for the specific teal blue color choice, that comes from a different childhood preoccupation that the 29-year-old just can’t seem to shake. “I’ve always sort of wanted to be an anime character,” she admits.
