Poppy King Holds Court At Bendel’s

To welcome Poppy King’s Lipstick Queen collection to its niche beauty offerings, Henri Bendel is hosting a coronation of sorts. With a red carpet rolled out for her royal majesty, the Lessons of a Lipstick Queen: Finding and Developing the Great Idea That Can Change Your Life author will be on hand today and tomorrow to personally present her line and to introduce her latest shade, Medieval. Inspired by beauty lore of old, King’s newest formulation is a bloodred color akin to that worn by ladies of the court, who would squeeze lemon juice onto their lips to sting them into pigmentation. King will also be doing lip readings—turns out, it’s one of her party tricks—at the public appearance (so if you have any misgivings about the new shade, best to keep them to yourself).
