Truth Time: Even Models Have Breakouts

September 7, 2008  9:26 pm

Backstage at last night’s Threeasfour show, M.A.C Cosmetics’ Vice President of Makeup Artistry, Gordon Espinet, was in good spirits. “I love doing shows in September,” he effused, mentioning how little makeup heneeded to apply to his models’ already radiant skin. “By the time we get to Paris in October, though, everyone is…not good,” he laughed. “That’s when you really need to cake it on. February is always a little dodgy, too.”
Revealing a common problem amongst catwalkers, the seasoned veteran expounded on the serious dehydration models often experience from nonstop schedules, changing weather, and increased traveling during show seasons. Nothing a little M.A.C Fix+ can’t, er, fix, though, which is the hydrating go-to that Espinet swears by. “A lot of people use Embryolisse too,” the makeup artist says, calling out the very rich, very French crème that is difficult to find stateside. “But because these girls are 18, you can’t use Crème de La Mer—it’s too rich. They get pimples and then they hate you!”

  1. MAC Fix + is amazing for under or over makeup and is also a great drink of water for skin when worn alone! It smells clean and fresh and works for all skin types! LOVE it and love the new packaging!
