If you’ve ever wondered how dignitaries, royalty, and yes, even Hollywood starlets manage to keep up appearances longer than common folk, the answer is usually pretty simple: They’ve had work done. And more often than not, the truly elite will forego the saturated nip/tuck markets of L.A. and New York for the more hospitable (read: luxe) setting of Clinica Ivo Pitanguy in Brazil—where Dr. Pitanguy, a.k.a. the “Michelangelo of the scalpel” and his team of image-shaping experts will keep you looking young for, well, ever. Most of us will never see the good doctor’s Rio digs, nor will we make it to the private island where select patients are invited to recuperate, but starting this month, we can at least get his expertise topically. The U.S. debut of Beauty by Clinica Ivo Pitanguy’s body-care line brings with it the know-how of a full staff of specialists in nutrition, dermatology, biochemistry, and surgery who have made the South American treatment center such a mecca for all aspects of skin well-being. The creams and lotions, which are made from local active ingredients like acai berry extract, copahu balm, and Urucum extract plus vitamin E, calcium, and magnesium already count three queens, one prince, and one very chic European first lady as customers. Without naming names, we can report that one’s gone so far as to pen a letter to Pitanguy pronouncing his products “délicieux.” You can’t buy a better endorsement than that.
