at vivienne westwood, technology spawns style

With her daring exploration of green lipstick still fresh in our minds, we were pleased to see Vivienne Westwood going for it again in the pucker department at her show yesterday. On the heels of what is turning out to be a wholehearted embrace of goth makeup for Fall, Westwood’s Spring lip appeared to be an interesting shade of blackened teal, pulled to a perfect point on the models’ upper lips. Or so it seemed. “We actually saw the teal during the run-through and think that it was a reaction to the lighting—a happy accident,” MAC’s Patrick Eichler said of the color. So no hints of green for Spring, unless refraction from sunlight will produce the same effects. If you’re interested in a little science project, apply MAC’s Ebony Pencil to shape (using the brand’s Smolder Pencil for precision around the edges), then coat lips with Blacktrack Fluidline mixed with a bit of Black Paint Stick for depth—and accept the fact that you’re a bit a of makeup
nerd, albeit a makeup nerd with sick-awesome lipstick.
