Behind The Tear Sheet

Erin Wasson As Erin Wasson

October 30, 2008  1:20 pm

Supermodel/fashion muse/jewelry designer Erin Wasson ranks right up there at the top of our “favorite catwalkers of all time” list for a number of reasons: first there’s her Texas tomboy past (any girl who can talk—and play—basketball while moonlighting as a major fashion icon is A-OK by us); then there’s the downtown, devil-may-care style sensibility that has led to more than one iconic party photo in the past few years (the paint-splattered sweatpants with slinky tank combo that she wore to Alexander Wang’s A/W 2008 after-party is still a personal favorite). i-D Magazine must share our sentiment, as they shot an entire spread of Wasson being, well, Wasson—no frills and seemingly no makeup either. Hairstylist Dennis DeVoy even managed to keep her signature, messy waves intact for the feature, using Garren’s Designing Spray Tonic to add volume and a bit of texture before weaving-in a matted-down braid that looks effortlessly perfect—much like the model herself.

  1. effortlessly perfect. i like erin because she brought Messy Dirty back after the powers at Vogue did away with the “grunge” look.
