A Flush For Fairer Types

November 19, 2008  12:20 pm

As the days get shorter and sun exposure becomes scarce, those of us holding our breath for a beachside holiday are reaching for bronzers until travel plans actually materialize. For our fair-skinned sisters, however, a midwinter ruddy cheek can look just plain wrong. But thanks to primers, women with porcelain complexions can still achieve an outer glow. To get the look heralded by alabaster beauties like Anne Hathaway, Selma Blair, Amy Adams, and Jennifer Connolly, makeup artist Rachel Goodwin suggests seeking out a hydrating, illuminating product like Le Blanc de Chanel Sheer Illuminating Base rather than a flat matte base, which will give makeup a soft, diffused look and add radiance. “This product can also be used alone, without any foundation,” Goodwin adds, explaining that when applied to cheekbones, the nose bridge, and forehead, primers can enhance and highlight the complexion, creating a subtle warmth.
