‘Tis The Season For Texture

November 24, 2008  2:39 pm

Who says holiday parties mean you have to reach for the straightening iron? Nexxus’ creative director and celebrity hairstylist Kevin Mancuso is standing on a “work with what you’ve got” platform this season. As such, the man that Sienna, Scarlett, and Demi turn to for their signature styles has designed four easy-to-duplicate looks to help you minimize prep time and maximize your natural assets. Our favorite from this foursome mixes textures so curly-haired girls can dabble in sleek and vice versa. See below for Mancuso’s tips for how to get the look:

Step 1: Shampoo and condition with moisturizing products like Nexxus Therape Shampoo and Humectress Conditioner for added shine and bounce.

Step 2: Towel-dry hair and spray with a leave-in conditioner like Nexxus Humectress Luxe, which will help minimize frizz. Follow with a mousse like Nexxus Gorgeous Curls, applied to the bottom half of the hair for volume.

Step 3: Make a side part and comb hair behind your ears. Position bobby pins from ear to ear in a half-moon shape to further separate the top and bottom of the hair. Blow-dry top and front sections, lightly smoothing hair down with fingers.

Step 4: Using a diffuser for texture, blow-dry the bottom section and then go back in with a large barrel curling iron to add haphazard structure to a few sections.

Bonus: For an easy updo conversion, keep the bobby pins in place and put the bottom half of your hair into a ponytail. Twirl hair and loosely wrap around the elastic tie. Then pin randomly to secure, allowing pieces to stick out from the knot at will.
