Gucci’s Golden Girl

If you’ve had a moment to flip through any number of magazines in the past few months, you’ve likely seen the new ads for Gucci Fine Jewelry starring Claire Danes. Outside of trying to figure out how it could ever be financially feasible to make the geometric, bejeweled gold cuffs on her wrists our own, we found ourselves with a list of questions pertaining to the particular shade of blond that’s spilling onto the floor: How did they manage to get her hair (and skin, for that matter) an almost spot-on match for the gilded jewelry? Is she pioneering a new color, which from here on out will be known simply as “Gucci gold”? Is this just a well-executed retouching job at the skilled hands of photographers Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin? Since Gucci is keeping the names of both stylist and colorist under lock and key, we may never know. But the color suits the former My So-Called Life star, certainly more than the Angela Chase magenta years.

Ironically enough, Claire Danes came into the restaurant I work at just last week. Can I just say that her hair nor her skin was this color. She was super pale, super blonde and super skinny. Though she didn’t have a stich of makeup on and looked beautiful….oh photoshop…
