Drugstore Discovery Of The Week
We’re going to go out on a limb here and say that most people, at some point in their lives (hopefully during their misguided youth and not, say, currently), went through a shoplifting phase. And during that phase, there were likely certain things on the top of that five-finger-discount list. For us, it was middle school and drugstore beauty products, which we would occasionally help ourselves to before walking out the door without paying—oh the rush! Eye shadows and lip glosses, among other things, somehow made their way into our pockets, but our favorite misdemeanor was surreptitiously opening hair dye boxes and taking the ultra-rich moisturizing conditioner (step 3 in the color transformation process) to use on a regular basis. We occasionally felt bad about our kleptomania, but we rationalized taking the conditioner because it wasn’t sold on its own and there was nothing else on the market quite like it. (Kérastase’s Masque Oleo-Relax was a discovery we made much later in life.) Perhaps Clairol got wind of all the incomplete packages or just realized the potential for increased profit margins, but on a recent trip to Rite Aid, we noticed that it has finally wised up. Nice’n Easy ColorSeal Weekly Conditioning Gloss is now for sale solo. And for a wee $3.99, it’s a real steal.
