Great Summer Skin In A Bottle

I’ve never been much of a foundation user, except this past winter when a dry, flaky, uneven skin tone necessitated an at-home mix of makeup and face oil for added coverage and hydration. I’ve since weened myself off the stuff, and while I don’t miss the extra step it added to my “going out” look—or the occasional traces of skin-colored streaks it left on shirts that were recklessly put on—I do find myself occasionally longing for that flawless finish that’s only really possible with foundation (and really good genes). I’ve recently rediscovered the multifunctional power of wearing primer by itself, though, which is a good option for the coming months, when the idea of slathering on a heavy foundation is unbearable with all the heat and humidity. It can be worn in lieu of both a moisturizer and a foundation, as it is quenching and can have an airbrushed effect, leaving skin smooth and pores minimized. Victoria’s Secret has a really good one coming out in August, but until then Smashbox has a whole roster of great options to choose from, including a Photo Finish Bronzing version that adds a subtle glow while reducing the appearance of fine lines and imperfections.
