La Prairie’s Fresh Start For Spring

April 16, 2009  2:57 pm

I have a confession to make: I do not exfoliate—regularly, or ever. It’s true (for shame!), and whenever I go to the dermatologist or facialist they reliably ask me if I do, at which point I get slightly uncomfortable and mumble, “Sometimes.” It’s not that I don’t appreciate the benefits of sloughing off dead skin to encourage cell regeneration for a healthier, more radiant complexion. It’s more that I’m just a little lazy and perfectly happy with the face wash I already use (Euoko A-Series Matte Foam Cleanser. Amazing). Regardless, with the seasonal change upon us, my skin is now, more than ever, begging for a quick strip. So I took the opportunity to test-run La Prairie’s new Cellular Resurfacing Facial at the Ritz-Carlton Spa to make up for a few months of negligence in 60 glorious minutes. After discovering that the patented combination of professional grade alpha and beta hydroxy fruit acids and salicylic acid in its Cellular 3-Minute Peel seemed to work as well, if not better than the glycolic acid treatment they were offering at the spa (with less irritation), they redesigned the service around the retail product—relaxation-enhancing extras included. (Facial massage with French lavender oil? Yes, please.) They also offer Replenishing Enhancement add-ons to any service, so I simultaneously delighted in the Soothing Sole Therapy with aromatic foot soak plus exfoliation, hydrating mask, heated wrap, and massage. My pores are now minimized, my skin tone evened out, and my heels wedge-ready. As an added bonus, I can re-create the experience (sans foot massage) by applying the peel at home; with a once-a-week suggested usage, I might be able to handle adding it to my regimen. (Maybe.)
