The Lipstick Is Mightier Than The Sword

April 28, 2009  4:31 pm

An interesting Mother’s Day beauty initiative—that does not involve predictable gift baskets or spa deals—just crossed our desk from Bestinbeauty.com. On May 10, the Web site is taking its “Labels for Life” campaign all the way to Washington to help educate women nationwide about the ingredient information on their personal care products so they can avoid harmful substances that are still sanctioned by the FDA. To motivate the government to take action and remove toxic chemicals like lead and mercury from cosmetics for good, it’s urging supporters to voice their concern about the issue using the power of the written word. All you have to do is write a message expressing your personal feelings on the matter, using a lipstick as your pen and a mirror as your paper, take a picture of your handiwork, and send it to takeaction@bestinbeauty.com where it will be added to the album that they are submitting to the FDA on Mother’s Day. Click here for more information.

  1. How fun! But a little concerning…why would companies put stuff like that in makeup? Not cool!
