Behind The Tear Sheet

Where Madison Avenue Meets The Bowery

April 14, 2009  10:34 am

Leighton Meester was nearly unrecognizable in the latest issue of the New York Times Style Magazine, showing off auburn highlights, a messy middle part, and nothing from Blair Waldorf’s signature headband collection. In the six-page spread’s accompanying interview, the Gossip Girl star reveals that she and her on-screen persona actually have opposite personal styles—and interests, one might presume. While the latter is busy planning parties and trying to maintain her “most popular” status, Meester is busy at work on a debut album, which she described to the Times as “very edgy.” I guess that might explain the pewter smoky eye and unkempt waves (watch out, Taylor Momsen). How do you take your Leighton—prim and proper, or a little bit rock ‘n’ roll?
