YSL Reveals Tricks Of The Trade
April 22, 2009 12:54 pm

As readers of this blog are already aware, my collectible bronzer of choice for this summer is YSL’s Trésor d’Afrique Sun Powder, which still remains on display and untouched in my makeup cabinet. When I’m good and ready, I will break it out and swipe a few upward finger strokes of its warm, shimmering contents onto my cheekbones, across my forehead, down the bridge of my nose, and onto my chin, thus simulating an all-over sun-kissed glow. Yes, I know how to apply bronzer. What I’m less familiar with is how to use some of the other beautiful pieces in the Trésor d’Afrique collection, like the 5-Colour Palette for the Eyes (at left), which features shades of ivory, turquoise, plum, navy blue, and toffee, all of which are apparently intended to work in tandem with one another. The idea of applying just one of these colors—let alone all five together—seems like tricky business to me, although it’s likely a cakewalk for Val Garland, YSL makeup artistic adviser, who will be on hand at Saks Fifth Avenue tomorrow to help demystify the line. Garland and her team of artists will be taking individual appointments during the day from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., as well as presiding over a master class that will cover general application tips and tricks from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. A $50 pre-pay fee, redeemable in product, is required. To book your appointment, call (212) 940-2156.
