Antonio Prieto’s In-Flight Entertainment

May 13, 2009  3:03 pm

As celerity gossip consumers already know, Trudie Styler—wife of Sting, co-founder of the Rainforest Foundation Fund, and a fervent lambaster of big oil companies—has sparked controversy this week for her extravagant use of a private jet to fly herself and her entourage (including Manhattan-based hairstylist Antonio Prieto) from New York to D.C. for a political fête. We’re not particularly up in arms over the alleged excess, as transportation alternatives between the two cities leave something to be desired. Have you taken Acela recently? It’s seriously overpriced and not that much faster than regional rail. But coincidentally, Prieto has just launched a collection of DVDs with easy how-to guides so clients can re-create his signature styles in the comfort of their own homes. The first of this series, Modern Waves, includes a list of the products and tools you will need to get the DIY look, as well as the proper way to utilize them so you don’t need to make a trip to the salon—or fly the salon to you, as the case may be. Stay tuned for upcoming releases, including The 5-Pin Up-Do and The 1 Week Blow-Dry. (The White House Correspondents’ Dinner Set is likely in the works.) All DVDs are available exclusively at the Antonio Prieto Salon and retail for $45 each.
