Which is perhaps why in-salon coloring is beginning to feel the pinch. According to recent market data from a Mintel consumer survey, 15 percent of 1,000 women polled who were once addicted to their colorists’ brushes are now preferring to use DIY over-the-counter kits. Clairol’s Nice’N Easy Root Touch-Up is apparently benefiting from the trend, with a 20 percent increase in sales over the last year, as are professional salon brand products like Frédéric Fekkai’s Salon Color.
