René Furterer Fights The Frizz

With summertime humidity making its debut in New York this week, we thought now might be a good time to talk frizz: It happens, and short of some serious dedication to plastic bonnets, it’s unavoidable. While topical solutions won’t keep you completely sleek and straight as the temperatures climb and the subtropical conditions set in (we’re having flashbacks right now of spending last August entirely in braids), they will help alleviate the problem. We’re currently enjoying René Furterer’s Myrrhea Anti-Frizz Silkening line, which includes a shampoo, mask, and fluid that are all formulated with myrrh extract, a natural resin that has anti-frizz properties. The collection also boasts a good helping of avocado oil to deliver intense nourishment and is completely devoid of parabens, sulfates, synthetic dyes, petro-chemicals, and phthalates (remember your ingredient no-no mnemonic device). Plus, the fluid is conveniently purse-sized for on-the-go touch-ups, so you can actually react when you catch that unfamiliar glimpse of yourself in a storefront window on a particularly hazy day. It’s a good solution for big-haired nature lovers—and everyone else looking to tame unruly hair this season.
