Ric Pipino Sets Up Shop Downtown

May 7, 2009  1:43 pm

According to celebrity hairstylist Ric Pipino, finding the space for his new Centre Market salon was a happy accident that resulted from a little rerouting. “I live two blocks away from here and I always walk up Centre Street instead of Mulberry because it’s just too crazy!” The charming oasis for cuts, colors, styling, eyebrow sculpting and lash extensions is nestled in between Broome and Grand streets in Nolita and has been in the works since Pipino spied the location back in November. “I’ve always worked uptown but lived downtown,” he said of the impetus for the second freestanding location to bear his name (the first is in Miami). “And I liked the idea of taking care of what’s around me and being a part of the community.” Now officially open for business, Pipino celebrated last night with friends and clients like Genevieve Jones, Fabiola Beracasa, and DJ Sky Nellor. Jewelry designer Pamela Love was also on hand to enjoy the Champagne and check out the display case of her macabre cuffs and pendants. For more information, visit www.pipino.com and stay tuned for the stylist’s new product line, Revolution in Cut, which will debut in the coming months.
