Daphne Guinness Comme-s Into Fragrance
June 8, 2009 2:38 pm

It appears as though Comme des Garçons will follow its successful collaborative fragrance venture with Stephen Jones by lending its olfactory expertise to—wait for it—one Daphne Guinness. We reported on the prospect of the heiress’ celebrity-fragrance-to-end-all-celebrity-fragrances a few months back and WWD filled in the details this morning. Made in conjunction with Givaudan perfumer Antoine Lie, Daphne by Daphne Guinness will debut in September and reportedly features “ingredients with personal meaning” to the socialite-cum-fashion icon: Woody notes recall floors and furniture from the house where she grew up, and hints of oud, also known as agarwood, which is common in incense, are meant to reminisce on tokens that her mother often brought back from trips to the Middle East. Bitter orange, rose centifolia, Tunisian jasmine, tuberose, and iris are also included in the perfume, which will be released in a limited-edition quantity of 5,000 bottles initially and will premiere, predictably, at Dover Street Market.
