ROB/B’s Triple Threat: Manis, Cupcakes, And Kobe Bryant

June 11, 2009  5:19 pm

Contrary to what my professional inclinations might suggest, I typically shun any/all powder-puff alternatives to the “big game,” as I find them somewhat insulting to my god-given right to legitimately enjoy watching professional sports. Super Bowl Spa Days therefore receive little attention from me; I grew up with a father who should’ve had sons, so I know more about football than most men I’ve dated. But ROB/B’s initiative for the ongoing NBA finals is right up my alley. The first OPI concept salon in the country, based in Studio City, California, is offering purple and gold manicures for Lakers fans looking to show their team spirit and get their beauty fix while watching the remaining matchups against the Orlando Magic on flat-screen TVs mounted behind each station (tonight’s Game 4 action starts at 6 p.m. PST). Lakers-themed cupcakes will also be delivered from nearby Big Sugar Bake Shop throughout the day. And for LeBron fans still mourning Cleveland’s loss in the semis, a red and gold option will likely also be available. For more information or to make an appointment, call (818) 980-7622.

  2. I appreciate the idea though very much. I personally believe all mani/pedi spots should have movies like the Holiday and Clueless on flat screen tv’s.
