Behind The Tear Sheet

Vlada Goes Back To The Future

June 24, 2009  12:56 pm

We’ve grown somewhat tired of the eighties-inspired editorials that’ve cropped up over the past few seasons, but a 17-pager in the July/August issue of Numéro Tokyo jarred us out of our complacency. It’s a visual cornucopia of a (still) red-headed Vlada in high ponies, bright-colored Nike Dunks, crop tops, and, yes, scrunchies, which, like most things of the era, are apparently making a comeback. While we’ve yet to formulate an opinion on whether or not the popular hair and wrist adornment of old is best left in the decade from whence it came, if anyone can re-create the kind of frenzied excitement that took hold of a generation of girls 20 years ago, it just might be Ms. Roslyakova. Thoughts on the pics—and scrunchies, part deux?
