I have had pretty bad acne for years, but my latest treatment (Duac) seems to have worked really well. I want to know the best thing to do with the ravaged skin that I am now left with, though. I am trying skin lighteners for pigmentation, but are there any good treatments/ingredients to rebuild texture?
I am so glad that you found some resolution for your long-standing acne problem, but you’re right, now you’re left with hyperpigmented skin (dark skin discolorations) and small indentations (”ice-pick marks”) at former acne sites. These skin problems are not easy to solve. Over-the-counter skin lighteners most likely will not be strong enough to address the problem, so don’t bother wasting money on cosmetic products that promise but cannot deliver. The ice-pick marks are an even more difficult problem to address, as no product can help heal deep pitting significantly. For a proper prescription-strength skin lightener, please visit your doctor; he may also have a good solution for the indentations, whether it is a laser treatment or injections.
