Lips And Tips Continue To Reign Over The Runway

July 7, 2009  3:02 pm

The backstage duo of Pat McGrath and Orlando Pita always provides us with plenty of “wow” opportunities when fashion week rolls around (need we remind you of the former’s cupid’s-bow lips and the latter’s Louise Brooks-inspired bangs and bobs with bobby pin embellishments from the Dior RTW show in March?). Both artists seem to possess a singular ability to push seasonal trends to their limits while simultaneously setting up mainstream replication. Their joint effort at the Dior Couture show yesterday was no exception, hammering home a few overarching fall makeup trends that seem poised to make a big impact on the society set that will be vying for John Galliano’s custom creations. We’re talking about repeat appearances from blood orange and deep fuchsia statement lips as well as yet another moon manicure sighting, in a shade of pinkish red rather than the deep burgundy incarnations from last Spring. It’s yet another reason to get your lipstick application skills on point before September rolls around (you might want to leave the manicure to a professional, though).

  1. I am a huge fan of the lipstick in both of these photos. Statement lips are so much fun, especially when fall rolls around. The colors look great on nails too, but I’ve never been a huge fan of the moon manicure! I suppose it does have a certain allure to it, but I like to stick to the basics when it comes to nails!
