Makeup Bag Check: Amy Adams

July 31, 2009  10:40 am

In search of inspiration for Amy Adams’ red-carpet look at the Julie & Julia New York premiere last night, CoverGirl makeup artist Molly Stern looked no further than the actress’ full-length Carolina Herrera gown. “It always seems that inspiration ends up coming from the dress,” Stern said of the charcoal-and-white-patterned floor-length number that was speckled with gold beading. Borrowing from that color palette, Stern went for a steel and copper smoky lid using a combination of Shu Uemura’s Cream Eye Shadow in P Taupe, Vincent Longo’s Liquid Eye Shadow in Silky Orange, and NARS Eye Shadow Duo in Brumes, dabbing a “smidge” of a Shu Uemura Pressed Eye Shadow in ME Gold 350 on the inner corners to highlight. After a few coats of CoverGirl Exact Eyelights Mascara in Black Sapphire, Stern warmed up Adams’ ivory skin with a peachy cheek courtesy of CoverGirl Simply Ageless Sculpting Blush in Plush Peach. A golden amber lip painted with CoverGirl Outlast Lipstain in Cinnamon Smile completed the look, with a dab of YSL Golden Gloss over top to provide a flashbulb-friendly glimmer.
