A Quick Fix For Better Brows
September 12, 2009 8:15 am

Maybe it’s the new haircut, but recently, I’ve been on something of a beauty high and have been way more receptive to trying new things, which is why my curiosity was piqued when a friend mentioned that she’d been dying her eyebrows. Not bleach blond, as is currently trendy for the avant-garde, but one shade darker than her natural color. Already a big fan of lash dyeing and extensions to achieve the same end—your natural assets, just better—I thought I’d give it a go, despite the fact that my arches are already jet black. Most eyebrow groomers have dye in their studios—you just have to ask, so that’s what I did on a recent visit to Jimena at Robin Evans Skincare. I lost my nerve a little as Jimena applied the pigment and visions of Groucho Marx filed my head, but the results were totally subtle in a great way. “It just makes them look fuller and furrier, like chinchilla,” Jimena said pointing out the way the dye helps hide sparse areas and makes brows resemble those of “chic Parisian ladies.” (Something worth aspiring to, for sure). If you’re in a hurry and between shows at Milk and the Altman Building, Boom Boom Brow Bar on Seventh takes walk-ins. Ask for Melinda.
