Anna Sui: Lions And Tigers And Heavy Liner—Oh My!
September 17, 2009 5:51 pm

Harking back to one of her favorite moments in time, Anna Sui ordered a familiar sixties-era beauty look for her Spring presentation yesterday. “We’re going to the Mod circus,” makeup artist Pat McGrath laughed as she applied black eyeliner and Twiggy-inspired spider lashes to models’ lids with heavy strokes of CoverGirl LashBlast. McGrath also dabbed on a pink cheek using CoverGirl’s new Simply Ageless Sculpting Blush, for that I-just-tamed-some-lions-in-a-minidress-and-knee-high-boots flush. The bigger story backstage was a repeat appearance of the Anna Sui beauty bar, in which the designer showcases all of the latest and greatest products in her cosmetics line. We’ve already talked about her fall foundations and nail lacquers, as well as her bodycare line, but new for review was Rock Me, Sui’s latest olfactory offering, with pear, peach skin, lily, and vanilla notes encased in a guitar-shaped flacon. It smells pretty similar to Sui Love, the passion fruit, jasmine, Italian violet, and musk scent that comes in the rainbow butterfly bottle, but has a slightly darker edge that’s bolstered by an ad campaign starring Agyness Deyn in leather, black nail polish, and studded gloves. It officially hit counters today, and all interested parties are invited to Sui’s Soho boutique on Greene Street between 6 and 8 p.m. to toast its arrival.
