Dsquared² Does “Cool, Hip, And Easy” For MAC

“It’s all about that uncontrived, contrived look right now,” said Dean Caten, referencing the beauty concept from Dsquared²’s Fall show. Now, MAC Cosmetics has reproduced that seemingly paradoxical style in a limited-edition collection. Keeping in line with the design duo’s special brand of kitschy cool, Caten wanted the same for his cosmetics as his clothes. As he eloquently puts it, “That rich-bitch elegance with a cool factor.” The resulting ten-piece line that he conceived with brother Dan and MAC’s vice president of makeup, Gordon Espinet, is a tribute to this aesthetic and comprises two Lipstick shades, a fuchsia Lip Conditioner, two different Sculpt and Shape two-tone powders, and three Greasepaint sticks in black, violet, and blue. It marks a first for the Canadian label, and a little something novel for makeup mavens the world over. In addition to the aforementioned offerings, MAC has also added a few of its very coveted, very hard-to-obtain Pro products to round out the range. Its clear, multipurpose Gloss Texture, rich black Kohl Power Pencil in Feline and Lip Erase—the concealer-like product that almost all makeup artists use to take down lips for a matte, nude finish—can now be yours, while supplies last, of course. The Dsquared² for MAC collab hits shelves today and is only available for a month-long engagement.
