First Impressions Of MAC At Milk

September 10, 2009  1:52 pm

When the news that MAC had left the tents to partner with Milk Studios was confirmed this summer, our first reaction was intrigue with a touch of sentimentality. For nearly eight seasons, we have come to rely on the headset-wearing army of black-clad MAC team members that have manned the corridors at Bryant Park to help us with all of our interviewing and wireless-Internet-access needs. So we were interested to see if the same kind of efficiency would come standard at Milk. With two shows already under our belt this morning, we can officially say that it does—and then some. The MAC & Milk ship is a tight one. Instead of interfacing with the exasperated walkie-talkie-clutching legions at the tents, one deals with pleasant, androgynous-looking male models strategically positioned throughout Milk Studios, wearing white polos and long white ties that read “Help?” in vertical script. Having to take the elevator two stories for backstage access is kind of a drag, but the location’s ample space and relative calm make it tolerable. Quickly scanning our color-coded Excel schedule, it looks like most of our time will still be spent on 42nd Street this coming week. But those few long trips across town will be welcomed. (The BMW shuttle service MAC and Milk have lined up between the two hubs also doesn’t hurt.)
