Mercedes, Essie Sing The Blues

There are definitely a few perks that come along with admission to the Mercedes-Benz’ VIP lounge at the tents. There’s free Champagne and a revolving cast of canapés, not to mention the much-needed opportunity to sit down on a leather banquette and take a quick breather in between shows. This year, the exclusive entry pass is more coveted than ever. Essie has debuted the latest nail lacquer in its series of collaborations with the luxury car company, and it’s only available within the small, open-bar confines of the backstage haven. Capri Blue, the custom shade created in homage to Mercedes’ newly launched range of E-class vehicles, is a metallic ink perfect for the season’s deeper color palette. It bears a resemblance to Midnight Cami, which is part of Essie’s new fall collection, but is “a little bit frostier,” according to Essie Weingarten, the brand’s founder. As for Weingarten’s predictions for Spring nails, she sees a departure from the somber grays that dominated last year and an embrace of all things “sheer and sexy.” Bad news for our garish color leanings, but an exciting prediction for those of you who like to keep it minimal.
