ScarJo Goes Rocker Chic

October 21, 2009  11:18 am

It’s unclear whether it happened pre- or post-Lost in Translation, but Scarlett Johansson is huge in Japan. It’s true. We saw it with our own eyes when we were there last year, in the form of a host of billboards fronted by the buxom actress hawking canned iced coffees and other such comestibles for which she would likely never do spokesperson duty in the States. We can only assume that it is because of this popularity that she was asked to host Moët & Chandon’s Tribute to Cinema in Tokyo last night, wearing one of the more, er, ambitious smoky eyes we’ve ever seen her attempt. Her signature pink cheeks and glossy lips were still intact, although the winged shadows of sparkly black pigment and heavy liner are all we can really see. Can you get behind the sultry-and-then-some look?

  1. I love this look, very trendy and current with the whole rocker chic look. But it’s also very vintage with the dress. Love the whole package.
