Diptyque Does You A Solid

November 13, 2009  3:48 pm

Perfume solids are having a moment as of late, and now Diptyque is getting in on the action. Your favorite scented candle purveyor and mine just launched its first foray into fragrance salves, churning out two different spreadable offerings this month. L’Ombre dans l’Eau features a green bouquet reminiscent of an English garden with notes of bergamot and Damask rose, while Philosykos has a more Mediterranean flair, embodying a fig tree in all of its fresh, sweet glory. Slip them into your purse, dab them behind your ear, and never worry about the hassle of spritzing again.

  1. Remember the old M&M commercial? That which went somewhat like: “our chocolate melts in your mouth, not on your hands”…

Same goes for perfume. Seriously. Solids need a magic wand of sorts [say: a thin, long, retractable applicator?]. They should deserve a push [pun very much intended]- solids get you straight to the base notes of perfume - nothing quite like it for anyone bent on wearing more then one at a time. You might be surprised how often and by whom that deed is done - or not. Still, that sort of serious perfume habit does not get talked about much. Perhaps it should?

True enough, it tends to be a private thing, perfume - let alone personal ones. I call everyone who tells me what their perfume is a ‘friend’ - and not just in the Facebook sense.

After all, there already are at least TWO confessions from multiple-perfume wearers around here - lost in the flow of new fodder. [Otherwise I wouldn't be writing this at all, naturally!]. Bring them up, let it grow. You can do it!
