Natalie Portman Hangs Tough

Natalie Portman is the kind of celebrity we imagine we’d be like—you know, if we were A-lister famous. She makes a point to stay out of the tabloids and lead what, by all accounts, seems to be a fairly “normal” life that includes an occasional dating interlude with a gorgeous former fashion designer or a quirky indie folk musician (swoon). When she does get in front of the camera, however, she can turn it on with the best of them, churning out stunning editorial after stunning editorial. Case in point: the cover story in the new V Magazine, which hit newsstands last week. Working the sexy androgynous angle, Portman rocks a sleek-sided pompadour, sculpted black smoky eyes, and a subtle cheek contour for a hard-edged femininity that she is seriously pulling off. Anyone want to weigh in on her glam rock-meets-The Outsiders makeover?
