Kiehl’s, Derek Lam Quilt For A Cause

For those of you who thought today was just another day in New York—and a cold one at that—take note: December 1 is World Aids Day, which means there’s a slew of charitable events taking place throughout the city. Kiehl’s, the East Village apothecary turned international cult favorite has renewed its partnership with amfAR, an alliance that dates back to 1996. This year’s initiative kicked off this morning with the debut of Hand Care for a Cure, a limited-edition version of Kiehl’s Ultimate Strength Hand Salve, the profits of which will be dedicated to fighting HIV/AIDS. If you head over to the brand’s flagship store at 109 Third Avenue to pick up your own tube of the extra-emollient balm, you can also take a gander at its World AIDS Day Quilt, which was designed in collaboration with Derek Lam and uses hundreds of unique squares handmade by Kiehl’s teams from over 30 different countries. This historic piece of fashion-meets-beauty ephemera will be on display for one week before it heads off on a worldwide tour.
