Lancôme Gets the “Prettiest” Woman
December 4, 2009 2:45 pm
It was announced this morning that Julia Roberts, a.k.a. Pretty Woman, a.k.a. Erin Brockovich, a.k.a. the biggest actress in all of Hollywood, has accepted a spokesperson deal with Lancôme. The financial specifics and details of her product affiliations have not been disclosed, but Style.com has learned that Mario Testino will be behind the lens for the campaign, slated to launch in 2010. It’s likely a seven-figure deal, but we’re less interested in the financials than the fact that after two endorsement-free decades in the limelight, Roberts has agreed to do ad spots—in America, no less (the huge-star-hawking-everything-from makeup-to-iced-coffee phenomenon is old news in Europe and Japan). We’ve got her pegged as a perfume muse, although she could probably sell mascara just as well. What do you think?

Are we saying there’s something deplorable (or dated) about a gorgeous American woman hawking makeup in America? Where’s the uproar over Nicole Kidman’s white imperialist Chanel mockery for Schweppes!!!
