New Year, New Makeup Resolutions

December 16, 2009  10:25 am

Every December, I draft a New Year’s resolution list, and every year I fail to achieve the goals I’ve set for myself. This despite the fact that many of my resolutions remain unchanged—”Get in shape,” “Read more books,” “Break endless cycle of addiction to dysfunctional TV (VH1, I blame you).” For 2010, I’m bravely adding a beauty-related resolution to my list, with the hope that if I announce my intentions to the world, I’ll be forced to follow through. Here it is: “Start wearing liquid eyeliner.” I have long admired ladies who are able to rock, not to mention easily apply, inky winged-out liner; every time I attempt it, it seems to end up on my brow bone, or the line turns into more of a squiggle. My proverbial training wheels for this experiment? Maybelline New York’s new Lasting Drama Gel Eyeliner. The oil-free formula promises to stay near my lash line where it belongs, and the brush allows for easier application. Hopefully, come January, I will be able to channel Brigitte without batting an eye.

$9.99, at drugstores in January.
