Rainbow Brite, Beauty Icon

The Proenza Schouler boys really started something when they sent models with pastel hair streaks down their Spring runway. First we saw a celeb imitation (Ashley Olsen), and now the popular punk pastime has made an editorial cameo as well. In this month’s issue of Dazed & Confused, hairstylist Raphaël Salley reimagines the catwalk’s tie-dye trend in beauty terms, elaborating on Didier Malige’s coiffing job backstage at Proenza. Better buy some Manic Panic quick before Ricky’s sells out. Seriously, do you think the fad will catch on, or is it something that’s best left to head shop patrons?

How fabulous! Terrific! Precisely what the doctor ordered, and not just for the New Year. PAINT ME!

Now, if there were a tasteful temporary version…

It looks super awesome and cute but I don’t think it’s very practical. I wouldn’t want to completely thrash my hair and have to keep up with the maintenance and what if you go in for a job interview? I don’t think they’ll be able to tell right away that it’s a fashion statement
