Contemplating The Accent Nail
January 27, 2010 11:33 am

At last night’s premiere of Mel Gibson’s latest flick, Edge of Darkness, actress Bojana Novakovic walked the red carpet in a golden yellow sleeveless number, with silver nails, à la the Chanel Couture show. But she didn’t give the metallic lacquer the full ten-finger salute. Her right ring finger appears to be painted a shade of orange-melon, an adaptation of last summer’s paint-every-nail-a-different-color trend that we could never really get behind. We’re a bit perplexed by this display. There’s something to be said for having one accent nail to keep things interesting, but better to use Swarovski crystals or hand-painted nail art for added flair, no? What do you think: a nice change of pace or just plain misguided?

Done something similar too - painting just one [buff rest, turquoise the color].
That was last summer.
Where the idea came from? The arrangement of a precolumbian bead necklace.
Would not be surprised if this gets reinvented at all. For whatever reason, the bit of color feels very right. Otherwise, it would have never made it from a torsade to my nails [and a couple of other applications] either. Many agree.

By missminerva on 01/27/10 at 6:28 pmI think it’s a great idea to shake things up a little bit. I would definitely do this.
By Mekenna on 01/28/10 at 9:20 amThis orange nail definitley would benefit from some bling with nail art to compliment the metallic lacquer, which I luv, luv!
