Miranda Kerr, “Vibrant Being”; Avatar, The Makeup; And More…

January 13, 2010  4:12 pm

Miranda Kerr abides by a beautiful-on-the-inside regimen to get the beautiful-on-the-outside looks that earned her a pair of Victoria’s Secret angel wings. The Aussie model is a student of Nichiren Buddhism and she chants, meditates, and does yoga regularly in addition to adhering to a strict organic diet. Then there’s the positive affirmations, like “I am a vibrant being of love and light.” Hey, whatever works. [Pop Sugar]

Lending her likeness to Avatar’s warrior princess Neytiri was apparently enough to earn Zoe Saldana a beauty contract. Avon has chosen the actress to be the face of its newest fragrance, Eternal Magic—which does have a fantastic, otherworldly ring to it, no? [Stylist]

Speaking of Avatar, the film is giving Alice in Wonderland a run for its money in the 3-D-film-inspires-beauty-collection department. [L.A. Times]

An apple-shaped body may increase your risk of dementia, but the equally unflattering pear shape may actually be good for your health. New research suggests that having a generous posterior and thighs, rather than a pot belly, cuts levels of “bad” cholesterol and raises levels of the “good” cholesterol. Another piece of cake, then? 1. Studies have been conducted in which men’s reactions to different body types have been tested. The overwhelming majority preferred pear-shaped women over apple-shaped women. Many celebrities are pear-shaped and are extremely gorgeous. Rihanna, Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez, and many others look beautiful and sexy in spite of carrying more weight on their lower halves than on their upper halves. I don’t think that you should’ve referred to the pear shape as “equally unflattering.” Most curvy, sexy, healthy-looking women are pear-shaped.
