Better Off Red

February 8, 2010  11:58 am

Redheads have all the luck. Not only do they have a monopoly on those rare and coveted hair color hues from auburn to ginger, but they can get away with minimal monochromatic makeup paired with an understated strong eye and completely dominate a red carpet. Cases in point: Carey Mulligan and Julianne Moore. While Mulligan stuck with an icy pink pigment on her lips, cheeks, and lids at the Santa Barbara Film Festival last night, Moore chose a warm peach as her allover color, utilizing a similar thin black cat-eye and multiple coats of mascara to promote her new film Chloe in Paris this morning. Both are simple, elegant looks that are a real endorsement for less is more, don’t you think?
