Beyoncé’s Steam Heat

Grammy Award-winning singer, accomplished actress, fashion risk-taker, and quite possibly the best live performer of our time, Beyoncé has racked up quite a few accolades over the course of her career. But hard as this is to believe, she never launched a signature scent. Until now. Coty signed Sasha Fierce to a perfume contract last fall, and Heat, her first olfactory effort (there will be follow-ups, oh yes, there will), is about to hit shelves nationwide. To celebrate the sensual fruity-floral, the pop superstar has planned a spectacle in New York City this evening. The official launch party for the scent (more on that tomorrow) will be preceded by a light show that will illuminate Union Square in bright red rays and smoky fog from 6 pm to 12 a.m. If all goes according to plan, the winter-y pavilion should have the aura of a steamy sex scene. Just a heads up so you won’t be too alarmed when you come out of the Whole Foods on 14th Street around 6:15.
