Doo-Ri Chung Loves A Lip
If you’re even semi-cognizant of lipstick’s dramatic evolution on the runway over the past few years, then you likely look forward to Doo-Ri Chung’s shows. The designer and Tom Pecheux, her trusted makeup artist, have collaborated on a gray lip and a navy/green shade in the last year alone. “She’s into lips,” Pecheux confirmed backstage yesterday, adding that Chung “has a real focus and a true continuity of what she likes.” After a series of “twisted” colors, however, Pecheux went with a slightly more classic mouth for Fall, albeit one that still bucks convention. Starting with a strong base of Ruby Woo, one of MAC Cosmetics’ most popular matte reds, he patted multicolored glitter pigment on top to add dimension. Runway only? Not at all: Pecheux says the look is plenty translatable. “It’s what’s happening now—people are taking it to the next level on their own. It’s a sexy look that you could wear to the Boom Boom Room, if you wanted.” Fashion week partygoers, take note.
